History

An Australian family company continuously owned and operated since 1880. It’s been a long and rewarding voyage for EHBrett.

Starting out in a rowing boat in Newcastle, Edwin Henry Brett would ferry sails back and forth to his sail loft where his daughter Beatrice Alice would work on these huge canvas sails.

Since then EHBrett has grown in size. From being housed in three factories in Balmain covering 6,000 square metres, it eventually relocated initially to Silverwater and then Moorebank in Sydney’s south-west. With the addition of a Melbourne operation in 2000, the business has continued to grow and offers a wide range of industrial textile products and related services, utilising the latest in fabric design and CAD technology.

We deal in tarpaulins and covers of all sizes; shade sails, structures, blinds and awnings; helibanners and enormous on field display banners and marquees; bags and covers of all shapes and sizes; and transport covers including tarpaulins, side curtains and canopies for general and Defence purposes. At EHBrett, we also offer contract services in CAD, plotter cutting and other sewing, welding and general fabricating.

The Brett’s Hire operation was commenced in 1956 and now offers the largest range and stock in Australia of sturdy hire tarpaulins for use in a variety of ways; not the least for rapid response to severe storm events. At Brett’s Hire, we can get over 200 tarpaulins to you at short notice, all roped and ready to install to provide protection for your home or business.

All this is made possible with a combined industry experience of our team at EHBrett, of in excess of 200 years. This youthful and motivated team is committed to ensuring the future of EHBrett & Sons.
